It’s a Cold Day for Backyard Farming.
The chickens were clucking to get out of the coop when I opened their door this morning. They love the sun, even though it was cold.
And boy was it cold but they hopped down and started eatingĀ out of my hand, just like they always do.
After grabbing a snack and a drink they trundled back inside - hey they’re bred for cold weather but they aren’t dumb.
Gracie is doing about the same. Maybe looking slightly better. At least she continues to eat and come outside, which is better than she was doing two weeks ago.
She’s not laying again, though. I hope she starts soon.
I’m still getting 1-2 eggs a day. But not every day.
The family is getting used to me supplying them with eggs. My granddaughters love them. Any time I can get good protein into them is good.
I think about getting a few more chickens, actually - we can have 6,
But I won’t do that until the weather warms up and I make the run bigger.
