Chicken Fashion
I need a chicken wardrobe.
To start with I want insulated work gloves. The “girls” love my blue suede gardening gloves, they won’t take anything from me if I’m wearing the plasticized gardening gloves but it’s too cold for thin fabric and if I feed them with my mittens stuff gets caught in the sweater like material.
A no-nonsense heavyweight jacket is essential. Something with a tight weave so pine shavings fall off easily.
And work boots are crucial. I can’t wear anything with even a small heel - it gets caught when I’m climbing over the fence. I’ve got furry snow boots but it takes longer to lace them on than it does to go out and feed them.
I’ve taken to wearing summer canvas flats when I’m out tending them. It’s workable but not warm. Furthermore they are now permanently relegated to work shoe status because that white smear across the toe is not snow.
A shopping trip is in order. Here I come Campbell’s Supply.
